Daniel Ellis, Broker, Instructor, United States Coast Guard Licensed Captain
Daniel started his sailing career as an Instructor for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), running remote sailing expeditions on the pacific coast of Mexico. He bought his first pocket cruiser there and lived off-grid in Baja before becoming formally trained as an ABYC Certified Master Technician at the Landing School in Kennebunk, Maine. While working in local boatyards and teaching for the Landing School, he undertook a complete 3 year refit of a 33' sloop that eventually carried him south to Belize/Guatemala where he managed a sailing fleet of catamarans around the reefs and atolls for TMM charters. An eventual return to the East Coast brought a career as sailing instructor, delivery captain, boatyard technician, and schooner captain.
With his wife and young children, Daniel has settled in the Poulsbo, WA area, quickly re-establishing his relationship with boats and boaters as a mobile marine mechanic. Now on his 3rd sailing cruiser, a Bruce Roberts 55', Daniel spends his days exploring the local waters with his family, taking on refits and repairs for a small client base, coaching new boat owners, and generally "messing around with boats".
Boat ownership can feel intimidating and it's good to have an advocate at your side. Daniel is committed to helping his clients feel prepared and comfortable for their next step, and aims to be a trusted and long-term resource in his role as a broker for Olympic View Yachts.
